Are you supposed to call your insurance company to let them know you are PG? This is probably a really stupid question but as I was laying in bed thinking of a million things this morning I realized I had no idea!
It probably depends on your coverage. ?Some policies want to do pre-admission notifications on any hospitalization. ?The most common thing I've seen with insurance and pregnancy is getting you into a free program where a nurse calls every month or so. ?
Re: Stupid question about insurance
i didn't.. my ob just notified them after my first or 2nd appt.
I think some companies do require this though.. although I can't see why.. since they would know by what your OB is billing for.

My dr gave me a book that had a list of questions to ask my insurance. Here's the list if you want to call yours....
Does the policy cover education for birth, breastfeeding and parenting?
Am I assigned to a specific primary care clinic?
Are there copayments? Deductable or out of pocket maximum?
Does the hospital stay need to be pre-approved?
How long can I stay in the hospital for a vaginal delivery? Cesarean?
Does authorized hospitalization begin at the time of delivery or admission?
Is circumcision covered?
What coverage is required if baby requires additional hospitalization?
Are home visits by a RN covered?
How do I add the baby to my insurance?
Hope that helps!!
