i have been giving him occassional bottles to get him used to it and he has taken them (from me and others) with NO problems. however the past two times he has fussed and fussed and taken forever to finish one (or just stopped eating all together, when he was clearly due for more ounces).. I go back to work next week, so he HAS to take a bottle when iam at work. figures it should happen now!!!! wtf should i do?
Re: why is he suddenly rejecting the bottle??
Don't worry about it. If he's taken them before with no problems, then he will again. I have been feeding DD with bottles since she was 6 weeks old and she still has times when she will turn her head away a gazillion times during a feeding and spit the bottle out. Sometimes they are just in bad moods. Eventually he will get tired of having an empty belly and just eat.
how often are you giving one?
We try to give one a day.
If we go a couple of days w/o one - he'll be a bit confused at first and get milk all over the place (and I go "NOOOOO...my liquid gold" in the background!)
not every day, just one every few days. he did so well i figured I could save my stash and not have to do it daily. maybe this week I will step it up and give one each day. arghhhh
when should they get faster flow nipples???
DD is almost 4 months and we still use the slow flow nipples. We tried the fast flow ones about a week ago and she just made a huge mess. I think it depends on each baby though, and how good their swallowing reflex is.
I'm not reading the responses so sorry if it's been said ... check the nipple flow. It might be he needs to go up to a faster flow
and please pip his easter outfit asap
My baby is exactly the same age as yours and she just started pulling the same crap!
Two weeks before we start daycare and she decides she WONT take a bottle. She doesn't just fuss her way through it, she flat out refuses and screams.
We only gave her an occasional bottle, when we were out and about, and figured since she did such a good job, I didn't need to worry about it. But now I'm freaking out, thinking she is going to starve herself while at daycare.
A lot of moms have told me that this is completely normal and is just a short phase they go through....oh I hope so!
