F/U to my "Came out of the (name) closet" post

So MIL saw our names on my blog and emailed me yesterday to say she really likes Evan and Elliana, and asked how we would pronounce Raina.  She's the one I was the most "fearful" of getting a negative reaction from, so I was really happy at her response!  SIL is the next most opinionated and hasn't weighed in yet, but I guess the blog thing was a good tactic because we don't have to see people's reactions right in front of us when they hear the names.  I'm chalking this one up as a victory!

  • Isn't it funny how sensitive the name thing can be?? We aren't telling anyone IRL our name choice until BSF's arrival, partly because we didn't want to deal with some of the BS we got last time around from friends and family. :)

  • Oh and here's a belly bumping *hug* to you re: your earlier post. I know I will SO be at that point in a few weeks. I'm already reaching my boiling point many days!!

  • Thats great it went over well.  I know when I named my dd, I loved the name and dh loved her name. That's all that matters.  For the relatives, the name will grow on them.  FWIW, I don't care for my nephew's name but he is adorable so I like the name better.

That must be a relief! (My niece's name is Eliana with one l, btw. She's mostly called Ellie.)

I was dead set against leaking names but your plan might be better. When we called my mom from the hospital to say Alec had been born there was dead silence on the other end when we said his name. Not the reaction we were looking for, exactly. In fact, we got such weird feedback the first few times we told people that we wondered if we should do something different, since it wasn't official yet. And I think because of that I still second guess his name all the time.

  • That's great! You must be relieved.

  • I love Rainah. It's at the top of my girl list. I'm glad the names seem to be going over well.
