So MIL saw our names on my blog and emailed me yesterday to say she really likes Evan and Elliana, and asked how we would pronounce Raina. She's the one I was the most "fearful" of getting a negative reaction from, so I was really happy at her response! SIL is the next most opinionated and hasn't weighed in yet, but I guess the blog thing was a good tactic because we don't have to see people's reactions right in front of us when they hear the names. I'm chalking this one up as a victory!

That must be a relief! (My niece's name is Eliana with one l, btw. She's mostly called Ellie.)
I was dead set against leaking names but your plan might be better. When we called my mom from the hospital to say Alec had been born there was dead silence on the other end when we said his name. Not the reaction we were looking for, exactly. In fact, we got such weird feedback the first few times we told people that we wondered if we should do something different, since it wasn't official yet. And I think because of that I still second guess his name all the time.
