I don't get this. FB-related

I was looking at a relative's (not sure exactly how she's related to me) page.  She's all Jesus-Jesus-Jesus-Jesus (not that there's anything wrong with that), yet she has three out of wedlock children?  (Not that there's anything wrong with that either, just didn't really think the two went hand in hand.)

  • I guess it's kind of like a homosexual person being religous. Should they not be religous b/c of their sexual orientation? What about if you got divorced, had sex before marriage, etc, etc. No, it doesn't go hand in hand but that doesn't take the person's right away to be religious, kwim?
  • "Hi pot, I am kettle!"  j/k.  My mom is like this.  She goes of on a tangent and then I think to myself, hmmmm, I cannot remember the last time you even set foot in a church.

  • oh how I love you for trying to make Saturday night interesting. ?Is her name Bristol Palin? ?
  • wait wait wait---why would a homosexual person NOT be a religious person??
  • She mentioned that the two don't go in hand and hand. There are a lot of people who believe that being homosexual and religion wouldn't go hand in hand either just like a lot of people think a lot of other stuff doesn't go hand and hand with religion. But I don't think they shouldn't be able to be "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus" b/c of it.

  • I've found that some Holy rollers like to pick and choose which parts of the "word" apply to them.

edit: or she could say "sh*t happens"... three times. ;-)

  • Um, hello...didn't you get the memo?  Religion is a tool to inflict judgement on OTHERS.  You, personally, are immune to the principles of your own religion except when they apply to you in a convenient way.  Duh!

I know homosexual people who are religious.  However, they don't get the sense they are welcome at any church they want to attend.  Some of them to go Anglican churchs because of this.  At the other churches, they get preached to about the whole "hate the sin, love the sinner."

I think it would be hard to be a part of a belief system that looked at me as a sinner because of my sexual orientation.  I can't speak for homosexuals or religious people, though-so maybe there's more to it than that.

  • Yeah, I guess you have to separate the self-righteous hypocrites who aren't actually religious beyond their judgment of others from those who are actually trying to live a good and decent life.

  • We are all sinners.  I guess I would look at it like just because she has maybe sinned in the past or even yesterday she can still be a Christian.  Humans are not perfect.  We ALL fall short of the Glory of God!  Now those who pretend to be perfect an not sinner and then preach.....those people annoy me!
