I use storage bags and write on them with a pen. I don't organize them in the freezer, they are just all thrown on the top shelf. When I need a bag I dig in the back for the oldest one. Not very efficent but it works for me.
I just write on my bags with a sharpie and then put them in larger freezer storage bags organized by month. So all of February's frozen milk is in one larger bag, etc.
I use a narrow empty shoe box. It lets me lay down the bag to freeze it solid and then stand it on end in chronological order. I can then read the flaps to find the amounts I need since I don't store the same amount in each bag every time. So I can pull a 4 and a 2oz bag to make a 6oz bottle, etc.
