what causes a swollen vagina during pregnancy?

my doc informed me that mine was quite swollen today.  (it wasnt news to me) but I forgot to ask?!?!

 

Anyone have answers?

I second this.  I mean, ankles swell and all b/c of water retention, so why not the vagina?

Oh! haha! Yeah, I'd say water retension too.

I think mine was caused by pressure.  I didn't really retain much water, but my vagina was all sorts of puffy.  I remember washing it in the shower a week or so after delivering and thinking dang!  Is part of it missing?!  I was so used to it being so much...er...thicker...

I think my doc told me increased blood flow to the area
