Medela Tubing issue

There are white specks of dried milk in the tubing.  I followed the manufacturers directions and soaked them in warm soapy water and rinsed with cool water by letting the water "run" through the tubing for a while, but this didn't work.  Is it not that big of a deal or do you have any tricks for getting them clean? I'm concerned about contamination, etc.

I'm assuming this is going to happen cause I have only used it about 15 times so far and the only solution can't be to replace the tubing every time can it?

TIA!

Re: Medela Tubing issue

  • If you're trying to get the water out of the tube, all you need to do it hook the tube up to the pump on one end and let the other end hang free (do not attach to bottle)... turn on the pump and the after a few minutes the water droplets will work their way out towards the open end.

I do this after every pump.
  • Yeah, I do this already and it helps with the water, but not completely.  I've even left it running for 20 minutes or so and still not all the water droplets

THe air gets pushed back and forth, it doesn't just blow out.

Thanks for your help though! :)

  • Try pouring 90% rubbing alcohol through it. It dries the water up almost instantly. I also twirl my tubing around to spin out the excess and get air flowing quickly through.
