I have to sing "You Are My Sunshine' every night

After I finish reading or if she's especially upset about having to go to sleep she says, "sing Shunshine." She usually knocks out pretty soon after (it's just getting her calm enough to even get to that point). It's so sweet and I love doing it... I just hope it's not a bad habit that she has trouble with if I'm not around at bedtime.

  • dh sing Bentlie the same song his dad sang him when he was little..when he is home he has to sing it a million times at night... if I attempt to sing it and get in trouble.. :)

I think its sweet that you have your moment with A!!!

  • No joke, my DD always wants me to sing "Viva la Vida" by Coldplay. I guess I played it a *few* too many times in the car, and now she's totally hooked on that song. I'm in trouble if someone else puts her to bed, because I'm not sure how many people know all the words, plus sing the musical solos, too!

  • DH and I take turns putting DS down but we have to read, turn out the lights and then sing...we sing the ABCs, Take me out to the ballgame and then ABCs.  I used to sing Billy Joel's Lullabye which I loved singing to him but he would give me such a hard time to put him down that I switched to DHs routine.  I miss singing that song:(  I figure that I will not have to sing to a 15yo and I will really miss it when he's older and tells me how horrible my singing voice is so I will take advantage now!

  • OMG!!!!!!!  That was Alexander's song for a LONG LONG LONG time!
  • She's def. going to be telling me not to sing when she's old enough to know better. And I'm going to really belt it out. Lol. I think I've posted about it before but I sang that ALL the time when I was pregnant. I guess she heard it.

MrsT.... they are so made for each other. Further proof. I suppose we'll overlook his wandering eye... for now.

  • I used to sing this to DD when she was an infant and she loved it! I have started to sing to her again recently - and she still loves it. When I am singing it at bedtime, she keeps asking for more sunshine every time the song is over - its SO cute!
