How old is too old for an announcement pic?

I have a few pics of DS I want to use in an announcement.  In a couple of them, he doesn't look like a newborn anymore.  Should they definitely look newborn in all the announcement pics???

  • I don't think it matters. I want to say the birth announcement my sister did for her DD had a picture of her at a month or two old and I never thought twice about it.

  • To some it might seem strange.  I wondered this as I sent out my birth announcements of my DD.  I could never get that newborn type shot I wanted w/ her (she's been hard to photograph since the get go).  I ended up taking a pic when she was 8 or 9 wks & going w/ that....honestly though, she looked like a 4 mo old in the pic!  She was quite awake & had a small smile on her face.

  • DD was 5 weeks in the picture that we sent out for her announcement and nobody commented about it.

  • I used a pic of DS when he was 5 weeks old and had a big smile - definitely didn't look like a newborn, but I loved the picture!

  • DS was probably 1.5-2 months in his.  I just didn't get around to it until then.  I'm going to try and get it done a little sooner with this baby.
