NEI's DC assigned an aftercare nurse thru the insurance company?

After Josh's recently hospital stay the insurance company assigned him an aftercare nurse to help us if we have any questions about his medical care or need information for making decisions.  We're in the process of trying to get his AR Pillow covered by the insurance company.  I called member services and I was told that they don't cover stuff like that.  I was contemplating calling the nurse to try and get her to advocate getting the approval for us (his GI is also writing a letter of medical necessity).  I was just wondering if this is something that she could help us with ?

TIA!

  • I would try calling the nurse!!  I knoiw that we now have a nurse case manager and it makes getting approval for things so much less of a fight.  Im not sure if they do the same thing, but it certainly couldn't hurt!!

     Good luck!!

  • I just wanted to second what pp said.  We had a visiting nurse that was definitely an advocate for us!  She was amazing when it came to medical supplies and insurance!

    GL!
