Anyone get a new Town and Country lately?

So we in the market for a new car in a couple of months.  I think it is time to get a van.  We currently have an SUV and the lease is up at the end of May.  My parents have a van and it's so helpful with the two kids, the strollers, etc...we'll get a ton of use out of it.  Even though I said I would never get a van, the convenience in the coming years is worth it.

If you got one lately, did you lease or buy?

If you don't mind me asking, how are the payments?  I have no idea what these vans are running yet and need to start looking.  I thought I'd get a ballpark here first.

I do want to get he DVD players and the fold down seats...all the other stuff is negotiable.  I'm hoping there are good deals out there with the current situation with the car companies.

First I would go look at all the different vans out there.  My favs are the Honda Odyssey and the Nissan Quest (it being my #1 fav)

The Honda doesnt have fold flat 2nd row seats but the Nissan has nearly flat fold down 2nd row seats.  Both have fold flat 3rd row seats.  The 2nd row fold flat seats is really big for me because I have 3 in car seats and have to crawl into the 3rd row to buckle 2 up. The seat being able to fold down really makes it easy to get back there.  I also like it because when we need a diaper change in the car I can sit in the floor and lay whoever needs a diaper down.

I also want a van that has the automatic opening doors on both the passenger and driver sides.

Just go look and decide what options are important to you.  Once you actually look at them you will fall in LOVE.  I love having a van.  We havent  had a chance to go look seriously.  We have just gone to test drive and look at all the options.  Now that we have the $$ for the down payment we just need to find the time and babysitter so we can go buy.

As for your payments it just depends on how much the van is, how much you put down, your interest rate and how long your loan is for.  We dont have a very good credit score so we have a high interest rate.  That is why we are trying to put more than half down.  Oh and we are not buying new.  The only way I would buy new is if I could pay it full in cash.  (not going to happen)  We want a very lightly used one.  Im hoping for a 2008 with very few miles on it.

Vans I really didnt like were the Toyota and the Volkswagen.  Nice vans just not big enough for my 3 car seats or with the options I wanted.

  • Chrysler doesn't offer leasing anymore so you would have to buy a T&C. I personally love mine. The fold down seats are awesome. My DH works for corporate Chrysler and there are really great deals to be had right now. We leased our van right before everything went down the tubes. Whoops.

  • I love ours and we got it t June. We lease it but shortly after we did, Chrysler announced no more leasing. It does have all the bells and whistles which I think had to be designed by moms : ) : ) We got the stow n go seats instead of the table. It turned out to be a good choice since I am pregnant with #3. The duo DVD players are great esp. since my kids are different ages. Plenty of room....LOVE the auto side doors and auto start esp. in the winter. Other features that came with it was the Nav system, which is great and Satellite radio/TV for a yr.

    Good luck w/ your choice : )
