Would you buy another changing table?

I have a combo dresser/changing table upstairs in the house. I'm wondering if I should just buy a separate changing table for the downstairs (to put in playroom) so I wouldn't have to go up & down to change the baby. Or should I just change baby on couch or on floor with the mats? Thanks

Re: Would you buy another changing table?

  • I bought a separate changing station and it was very worth it.
  • I used the pack and play changing station downstairs.

  • I have the combo dresser/changing table, and honestly, I rarely used it.  When he was really little, I used it, but more times than not, I laid a blanket either on the floor or the couch and changed him there.

  • I never used the changing table. Maybe only a handful of times when DS was a newborn. But we were rarely in his room during diaper changes. Maybe just at night when we'd get his jammies on. And usually, we'd put his diaper and jammies on right after his bath anyways.

I found it much easier to keep a little basket with diapers, wipes, cream, and a bunch of those swaddling blankets (like the ones you get at the hospital) in a few rooms throughout the house. Whenever i needed to change him, i'd lay a blanket down and change right on the floor or couch. That way, if it was messy, i would just throw the blanket in the wash. It was much easier to wash that than keep washing and changing the pad cover.

  • I haven't used a changing table since my 2nd child was a few months old. I use a changing pad on the floor (I do daycare so I'm required to use a wipeable surface) which is so much easier to me.

  • We still use the changing table and have been taking DS upstairs to change him.

I am getting a diaper caddy for when number 2 arrives so I can have diapers, wipes, etc. downstairs.

  • DH and I both use DS's changing table for every single diaper change.  I would for sure buy another one!

  • If you found yourself using the changing table upstairs alot, definitely buy one for downstairs. I got a cheapie off craigslist and painted it. IKEA also has a foldable one (the coolest thing I've ever seen and I totally would have bought one) that's inexpensive as well.
  • Hey V, we bought another changing table from Craigslist for additional use.
