A little over a month ago, I posted about my grandfather having routine gall bladder surgery. Apparently the anesthesiologist that intubated him perforated his esophagus which ultimately lead to his death a few weeks ago.
It's finally sunk in and I'm very angry and upset. Initially, I wasn't bothered by his death because he was back with my grandma and was happy so I was happy but now, the reality has hit me...
Re: Thanks to hospital negligence, my grandfather passed away
I'm so sorry! How awful!
My mom had a huge tumor in her trachea that the doctors hit when they had to intubate her. It was in her chart that they could not go down too far. I guess there is no time to read the chart when it's an emergency!
Wait, they tore his esophagus. Did they intubate him incorrectly? I thought intubation was through the trachea?
I don't know. I just know that the hospital he was taken to later that week for emergency surgery, the doctor that did his surgery said that it is very obvious that is how this happened.
The gall bladder surgery was a monday and by thursday evening he had a fever and would not eat. Friday morning, he had a bad fever and was unconsious due to an infection because of the esophageal perforation.
(((HUGS))) I'm sorry...
I'm so sorry. I know doctors are only human and make mistakes, but it's so tough to understand how it happens sometimes.
Is this the same grandfather that was refusing kidney dialysis?
