I recently went back to work 2 days a week and after working DS refuses to nurse and only wants bottles. Has anyone else experienced this and any suggestions? Also, he was diagnosed was acid reflux and I am not sure if meds are the answer. Is there any others altnernatives like changing my diet or anything else that has worked? Help!
Re: acid reflux and rejection
I don't have any suggestions for the feedings, but with the reflux, I have had two babies on zantac for it. with my first we just did the zantac and i honestly didn't think to try anything else. With my DD who is 9 weeks old, we have been fighting it since the beginning. DS has a mild milk allergy so I have limited my milk, but it made no difference with DD. I have not had greasy, fatty food, nothing spicy, etc, and it makes no difference. Hers is bad to the point that we were having projectile vomiting several times a week. It was also a guarantee that every evening she would have a period of time where all she would do was scream and it was clear that she was uncomfortable and in some pain.
We started the Zantac on March 4 and can honestly say that we have noticed a vast improvement both while she is feeding and throughout the day and evening. She is also sleeping better at night.
I am not usually an advocate of meds in kids, especially so young, but when they are miserable I don't think it hurts to try and see if they get relief!
Good luck!
