Just pumped and baby wants to nurse

Still trying to get a hang of breastfeeding!

I just pumped about 5 minutes ago and baby is rooting and hungry. Do I still offer her my breast or give her the pumped milk. I am worried that she will have nothing and go hungry ?if I give her the breast.?

  • I don't know, but this happened to me, too! Did you pump for a long time? If so, I'd give her the milk. If it was just for a few minutes, try nursing her and see if she seems satisfied.

  • I would offer her the breast first and let her nurse for awhile (offer both sides).  If she's still hungry after that then give the expressed milk.

  • If it is "time" for her to eat, then let her nurse. She will get more out of the boob than your pump can get, so she can still nurse.

    yep.  I've had this happen.

  • I'd just nurse her. If I'm full before baby seems hungry I'll pump and throw it in the freezer and then let her go for "leftovers." She can get a lot more than the pump can, and I'm able to keep some on hand just in case.?
