Hey! I know you're busy with your mom this weekend, so no rush on getting back to me!  You mentioned before that you are going to S. Padre island this summer for vacaton.  Well, Michael and I were talking at lunch, and are thinking of making the trip too, probably late summer. I love the ocean and I think T would be a great age this summer, plus it's cheap!

Now my question... are you guys staying in a hotel or a condo/rental property?  With T, (and probably SIL & her bf) I think it would be easier to stay in a condo type place so we could cook, have more room, etc. Do you have any recs?  I've never been, and even though it's not an exotic, fancy vaca, I'm excited :)

    We're going with my parents - because they have a Hilton/RCI timeshare and we get to stay for free that way. We are staying HERE ... which is a condo-like experience I guess.

    The units have kitchens in them, and most have washers/dryers in them as well. I'm not sure how *nice* this place is ... but really, I was looking for something/place that didn't have a whole bunch going on other than beach time. I don't want to feel like I have to 'sightsee' on vacation ... I just want to go, and plop my butt down in the sand with a cerveza, KWIM?  And this place is RIGHT on the beach, which I thought was important knowing I would be carrying a TON of baby crap and also dealing with a cranky toddler at times (sniff, TODDLER!).

    When you check out condos/hotels, make sure you ask about damage to the property ... because a lot of them (including this place) are still doing a lot of cleaning up after Hurricane Dolly.

    Awesome, that helps a lot!  I too, am looking to just chill for a few days, laying on the beach with a margarita or cerveca sounds PERFECT.  We also want to be within walking distance to the beach.  Thanks for the tip on Dolly, I never would have rememberd that.  I'll keep ya posted :)

    When DH and I went to Padre we stayed at the La Quinta, right on the beach, and it was really nice.  :D  It was either Padre or the Cape this year - the Cape only won because we're staying for free (we're staying at Kateysomething's aunt's condo on the beach) and we'll be going to Vermont and NH too.  w00t!
