Forgot to tell yall what happened at Disneyland

So I was at one of the gift shops while Linus was off with my SIL. I go up to the register to buy him a "My First Mickey" t-shirt. As I'm checking out, the woman ringing me up asks if it's for "that one".

"Which one?" I ask. I'm confused. I think I must have a picture of the boys in wallet or something. But I don't. Then I realize...

She's looking at my gut. Which, you know, still looks funny in a oh, maybe 4 months pregnant kind of way. The kind of way your stomach might look if you had triplets at some point in your life.

She sputters and quickly realizes that I'm NOT pregnant and stammers "oh never mind!!!" and I'm just stunned and embarrassed and mostly shocked that she assumed I was pregnant! I mean, come ON. In these days of empire waist shirts, you do NOT ask a woman if she is pregnant! Unless she is VERY OBVIOUSLY pregnant! Like, giving birth!

Sheesh! Plus, the shirt I bought was 24 month size. Duh, woman! Who would buy a newborn a 24 month shirt? Hmmph.

No no no you have it all wrong.  She asked for "that one" because your boys are so famous for their cuteness that she KNEW that you had triplets, and she meant is it for Linus, not the other boys.  She was just embarrassed because she realized that she would seem stalker-ish if she knew that you had triplets and you didn't know who she was.

What on earth was she thinking?! I have a 4-months-pregnant (at least ) belly still myself and am dreading getting asked that ... but I agree, you do NOT assume a woman is pg unless it's very, very obvious.

I agree with lajolla.  She must have seen your post with the boys wearing their Mardi Gras t-shirts that you made.  She wasn't sure if it was for "This One" "That One" or "The Other One".

No way! Did that feel cool (I'm famous!) or weird (I'm being stalked!)? I think I'd be a little weirded out by it unless it was someone I had at least "met" online, via this board, or they'd commented regularly on my blog, or something.

that's happened to me before. it was weird! but funny. it happened pre-babies (from my blog and once from the knot) and just a few weekends ago, a nestie saw me and the boys at the zoo and said hi. while i was talking to someone else who recognized us from my blog. but i was friends with her sister, so that wasnt' quite as weird.)

oh my God people are dense. I don't care if I witnessed someone giving birth- I would NOT ask if they were pregnant. I thought everyone knew that by now! And I'm sure you don't look pregnant!
