3rd Trimester

I know, I know...a hospital bag question...

So last night I finally got off my fat a$$ and started to attempt to pack my hospital bag (I didn't get very far).

When it came to packing clothes and comfy stuff for me, I got totally stumped!  What are you packing for yourself for clothes?  Thanks.

Re: I know, I know...a hospital bag question...

  • Yoga pants and a maternity t-shirt to come home in. Other than that, I'll be living in the hospital gowns while I'm there. No sense in getting my clothes all bloody and messy. I will be packing a robe though, to throw over the gowns when I have visitors, or want to walk around.

  • As far as clothes?  A robe, socks, slippers, a pair of pjs, and a tank.  That's it.

  • I packed some PJ pants and tshirts. The minute I could get out of that hospital gown I wanted to with my first. It was July, so I lived in goucho pants and tank tops..Anything to be comfortable..
  • I packed very light. I wore the same thing home that I wore to the hospital (comfy yoga pants, long sleeve t-shirt). At the hospital, I wore their gowns and brought my own lightweight robe. Brought a nursing bra, couple underwears (but I wore the meshy ones they gave me). I had 2 pairs of comfy socks. The ones I wore in delivery, sadly, had to be thrown away...

I was really light on the clothes.?

  • Pretty much what the pp said:

Robe to wear over the gown while I'm there, socks (I hear your feet freeze)

Then for coming home, a pair of mat. gouchos, nursing tank and overshirt (mat. also), flip flops.

  • Drawstring pants, nursing tanks, boy shorts (unless I use the mesh panties)...if I need anything else I'll just send DH home to get it.

This. I also packed 2 pairs of underwear for myself. I will probably end up in the hospital-issue ones, but the thought of using underwear that doesn't belong to me is a little weird. I know they're not USED or anything, but it's still weird. I'll probably get over that, though.

  • I'm vain I guess. I can't wear the hospital gown longer than necessary! With my first pg I had DD 7 weeks early and unexpectedly so I had nothing of my own for the first day or so.  They made me get up and walk to the nursery and walk all around.. I was sore, upset and very balloon like in those awful gowns.  I was thankful when I finally got real pj's to put on. I don't know why but it was comforting.

This time I have packed: two nursing nightgowns, a robe that matches both, black yoga pants, a nursing tank and a black zip up hoodie to wear home.   I wanted to be prepared.

  • Probably just clothes to come home in.  I felt SO GROSS last time post partum that I wouldn't have wanted to wear my own clothes.  And I was super early and hadn't had a chance to get any nursing bras, so the hospital gowns were it.  I may bring a hoodie in case it gets cold, and MAYBE some of my own socks and slippers, but we'll see.
  • I packed nursing PJs and a light robe for while I am there and a dress to wear home. ?My mom and grandmothers both told me to wear something that would fit if I "deflated" lots. ?Also when I leave the hospital we are stopping to show off the baby at various different places so I don't want to look all sloppy.?

  • I'm planning to wear a hospital gown the whole time I'm there, I don't want to get any of my clothes yucky and much less have extra laundry when I get home. I will bring, just in case, a button up long sleeve pajama top for nursing, some panties, nursing bra, flip-flops, and something to wear to go home.

  • This is what I packed and used....

I had a vaginal birth so I was in the hospital two nights.

Two pairs of pajamas - both were pants with tops.

    a comfy Robe

    slippers

flip flops for shower / you may want an extra towel --    it would have been nice

Toiletries - shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, facial soap, hairdryer (if you use it) comb or brush - makeup if you are up to it (I was)

A comfy warm up suit to go home in.  Dont forget a tee shirt

    Sneakers

Outfit for baby - undershirt too - dont forget hat and blanket.

    Extra blanket for my bed.

    Two pillows

Cheap hanes extra large grannie panties to put over the mesh underwear you are given.  You'll feel extra secure.

Sports bras (may need pads for your bra) depends if milk comes in.

    3-4 pairs of socks.

    Snacks.... hospital food sucks.
