I actually didn't give it to him until the ped gave me the ok at 6 months. He was almost 4 months adjusted. She said that it wasn't to be a "meal" yet but just practice with a spoon for awhile. He hated it at first and then suddenly one day LOVED it.
I started with giving it to him in between his last two bottles - like it would be his dinner at some point. After he mastered the rice, I started giving him oatmeal in between the first two bottles in the morning. Now I'm giving veggies with the rice at night and it's become "dinner" and I've dropped a bottle. Once we move on to fruit, I'll give it with the oatmeal and drop another bottle.
Then at some point give him "lunch" and drop a bottle...get it?
Right now we're up to oatmeal, rice, peas, sweet potatoes and that's it. He had an 11 day stomach virus and we had to only give him soy formula that whole time...otherwise we'd be much further along.?
