Told out of state inlaws yesterday... surprisingly went well

...so far anyways!

We got our home doppler 2 days a go and hubby decided he wanted to spring the news over the phone using the doppler. ?Called his parents and said our hellos then said "Hold on, there's someone here who wants to say hi to you guys" ?then put the phone over the dopple speakers.?

MIL got it right away and started saying OMG is that what I think it is... FIL took a while to explaine what he was hearing. ?It was funny though! ?They are supper excited and asking a bunch of questions on how I was feeling, when we're due etc. ?They were amazed we could do this at home and hear the heartbeat... come along ways since MIL had DH she says.

So far so good. ?Things are still uncomfortable for me with them because of 3 years of drama and?trauma... they are far too overly involved and intrusive even?from?a distance... a year's worth of couple's counseling to get DH to see he needs to set boundaries with them and hang up the phone when the convo gets beyond?disrespectful?and they cross the lines in their?overbearing?ways. ?So we are trying to make nice but the line in the sand is drawn and they need to respect us as a couple and me as their son's wife... or they will miss out on all of our joys... pure and simple.

DH is doing good so far keeping his mom at bay... hope it keeps up after the birth! ?For now we will focus on the joys and sharing our excitement and hope they fall in line!

We told his parents via Skype Video just because I wanted to see the look on my MIL's face and to my surprise, she was over joyed (and it looked sincere) and she has been a complete doll. I think that perhaps we don't give them enough credit!
