"You should have planned that better"

If one more person tells me how miserable I am going to be during the summer and that I ?should have planned that better? I am going to scream!!!!!

I don?t care what time of year I am pregnant, I am just happy to be pregnant!

  • What a ridiculous thing to say! I totally agree with you!

  • I have gotten the same comment!! Stupid people! I always say..you know what I will be just fine in my bikini!lolol
  • Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with people!?!?!?  I could NEVER, EVER bring myself to say something so stupid to someone!  Actually I never even thought about it.  It's no big deal to me.  My 1st one was also born in November and I don't remember being extra uncomfortable during the summer at all.
  • amen sister!!!! There are pros and cons to being pregnant in every season! I work with people and talk to several women and its amazing how many of them complain about stupid comments that other people make.  Ive always tried to be cautious and think twice before commenting to them about pregnancy and now Im in their shoes.  I couldnt believe how early the idiotic comments really start rolling in!  I guess people just want to talk about it and they truely say the dumbest things.

  • what a silly and obnoxious thing to say. people need to mind their freakin' business.
  • I know what you mean.  People tell me all the time "ooooo you are going to be miserable ALL summer!!" It's like really??!?!?!? I had no clue!!

LOL!  I'm actually looking forward to wearing a bathing suit this summer!  I'll have a good excuse to be fat and won't mind one bit showing off my baby belly! hahaha

  • Some people just suck.  They should be happy for you no matter what the season. I wonder if they know that technology like air conditioning exists? What about swimming pools? Do they not realize such marvels abound?

Ditto that. I was a little scared at first because I just hate the TX heat.... but then I started thinking about having Oct, Nov and Dec off for maternity leave and that just plain rocks! Those will be the perfect months to be off AND to get back into shape. Smile

  • At least it's easier to stay healthy in the summer- many less colds going around, you can go for a walk even if it's really hot if you go outside in the morning and evening, and lots of fresh fruit available!
  • I have had people say that as well.  There is this lovely invention called Air Conditioning!  Plus, at least we will be able to take our babies out right away unlike if we were having them in the dead of winter!

  • People have said the same thing to me, especially because I am a teacher.  "Oh, wouldn't it have been nice for you to be due in June when you have the whole summer off, and it's not so hot...!!"  First off, this pregnancy was SO not planned, so how planning was not an issue. And second, now I get the whole summer off, as well as part of the fall and winter Wink

  • I get alot of people saying you pooor thing , it's going to be so hot. Where do you live people? I Have AC. why do people think you should care when you are pregnant. Just be Thank ful you are. Sometimes people Plan to much! life should be full of some unexpected things! Flaunt those belly's in those Bikini's you Hot Momma's!

  • yeah i definitely agree... everyone has been telling me that as well.. its like dont you ppl understand that it doesnt matter as long as im pregnant and my baby is healthy who cares if its during the summer!

  • It's amazing how people think they are able to forecast another woman's pregnancy.  When I first started posting here, after the BFP, someone had mentioned basically the same thing you did.  We came to the general consensus that no one is cuter in a sundress than pregnant women! We are all going to be just fine!! Sorry you've had too much experience with stupid people!
  • Yeah... horrible.

Fewer colds/illness, no slipping on ice or snow, your body can be more comfortable in looser summer clothing, access to pools to cool off, you get to cover the left over baby weight with fall and winter clothing while you lose it instead of having to jump right into a bikini, longer sunshine so you don't feel depressed and fat sitting at home (like I feel now).

Hmmm, I think we planned it just right.

  • Agreed.  I'm excited that I'll have most of the holiday season off on maternity leave.  Also, living in Minnesota, I'd rather be bringing a baby home from the hospital when its warm that in January when the actual temp is -20.

  • Maybe someone should have planned YOU better, is how I would respond.  Jeez.  I mean, it may be hot but there's never a GREAT time of year to be pregnant....you are either too cold or too hot or whatever. People need to STFU.
  • I live in a suburb of Philadelphia.  So yes, it gets hot and humid during the summer or we could have a mild summer or a mix and I don't really care either way.  I have that lovely invention that you all discussed call air conditioning!  My mom also has a pull so I am sure I can find ways to keep myself cool.  I am just tired of people saying how hot it is going to be and that I am going to miserable and blah blah blah.

  • I'm excited.  First of all, I have central A/C and my parent's have an inground pool within about 5 minutes walking distance Stick out tongue

Second - I think the clothes are going to be so much more comfortable on a large pregnant woman!  Skirts, sundresses, cotton t-shirts and tanks and of course... flip-flops!  Now how to convince DH to paint my toes all summer...?

  • MikeandSarah...Excellent points!!
  • I can't tell you how many times I heard that while pregnant with DD. (she was due in August) And honestly, it wasn't that bad! Besides, I think summer maternity clothes are way cuter, anyway. ;-)

  • Being pregnant in the summer is no big deal! My DS was born in August and I live in Texas where it's about 100 degrees and 100% humidity.

I just laughed when people said that to me. I mean it's not like I worked out in the heat or something. I said several times, "There's this new invention called the air conditioner that does wonders to keep you cool! Big Smile"

  • Yea, I've gotten that too. Esp. after all it took to get here, I just want to punch them in the face.

I just smile and say I plan to set my house up like Father of the Bride 2, where the AC is set for me to be comfortable, and my hubby can run around the house in a parka!

  • me too.. It will be so wonderful to be in cute dresses and skirts this time, instead of big sweaters and tight pants that are uncomfortable!!! :) I can't wait for this summer!

Of course, I grew up in AZ, so Midwest summers are nothing for me! The only part I'm not looking forward to is spending 2 weeks in AZ in July in 110+ weather. That part will not be fun! ;)

ETA: What the heck, this is in the wrong post and now I can't delete. Oh well.

I hear that comment too, but I'm looking forward to a summer PG.

  • I got that all the time. I had my first baby in July and my second in September. It was miserable but all worth it in the end. :0)

  • I can so sympathize.  DD was born 2 days before Christmas.

  • I totally understand.. and the other things that ticks me off is my birthday is July 31st and everyone says... "you cant drink on your 21st birthday.." oh.. booo hooo... maybe it would make a difference if I hadn't already drank before... like since i was in high school.. big whoop... I"m having a baby! DRINKING IS THE LEAST OF MY WORRIES!... that's the one that ticks me off... haha
