So I have my first Docrotr appointment today but it is what they call informational. I dont even get to see a heart beat. I am currently 7 weeks and 3 days. Did anyone else have to wait until they were 11 weeks for the first exam and ultrasound?
A lot of people don't get an ultrasound at all until they are 20 weeks. If you aren't high risk, that's completely normal. As for an exam, my doctor typically won't see a patient until she is 8-10 weeks, so that sounds normal as well.
I have a different family doctor this time, my other one moved away so there is a new one and she is just as good, except with DS I had my first offical appointment at 7 weeks, this time around, we had an informational appointment at 5 weeks and then my offical first prenatal appointment with heartbeat and all that stuff is at 10-12 weeks. Different for each doc I suppose.
my first u/s was a 9wk and then I had my NT scan at 11wk2d....the next time I will see my little one will be around 21wk when we find out what we are having. Most insurance companies only pay for 1 or 2 ultrasounds unless there are problems that warrant an earlier one of if you did fertility treatments. This is normal.
After a loss at 13wks and years dealing with IF and failed treatments (3 failed IUI and 1 failed IVF), we have been blessed with DS (surprise BFP) and now his little sister (2nd round of clomid and TI) on her way.
My situation was a little strange. I was at my annual appointment when I found out I was pg, so I already had the pelvic exam. The nurse-midwife did a blood test to confirm the pg.
Second appointment was at 8 wks. Family history, felt my uterus and my tailbone, answered questions, discussed options, etc. Scheduled my first U/S. She also listened for, but did not hear the hb. Chances are you will not be able to hear hb at 7 weeks.
I went to my first U/S at 11 wks, but I ended up being 12 weeks.I think that is pretty standard, though.
I think I had an 8 week appointment because I am AMA (advanced maternal age - 34 now and 35 when the baby is born). Otherwise, I may have had to wait.
I had my first u/s at 6w4d but I was an infertility with recurrent loss patient so that is why so early. My next one wasn't schedule until 12w2d but I was having a lot of anxiety about waiting that long so I told the doctor and she said without hestitation lets have another u/s.
So now I go again next Friday 9w5d. I would definitely ask for an u/s sooner. It never hurts to ask!
I was 7W 4D at my first appointment and u/s. At my hospital it is part of how they confirm the pregnancy and calculate your EDD. Though they still went with my LMP since it was within 2 days.
My first appointment will be this coming Monday and I'll be exactly 10 weeks. I was told back when I scheduled this appointment that there would be an ultrasound.
