Last night the boys and I went to my sister's house for my nephew's first birthday. From the minute we walked in the door, Jonas was a mess. Not even a little bit like himself. He screamed and cried and we could not calm him down. He would stop for a minute or two and then start back up again, but it was this awful cry. Not one I recognize because he's never cried like that...not even once. He finally calmed down when I put him in his carseat to go home.
I've gotten it narrowed down to three possible reasons for the upset:
1) He started carrots the day before yesterday. He had two servings of them before this happened. Maybe they upset his tummy?
2) He was overwhelmed by all the people there?
3) It was his normal fussy time and it was worse because we weren't home?
So, anyways, he did that hiccup/catch his breath thing that they do after a good cry for THREE HOURS in his sleep last night. I was a nervous wreck that something was wrong with his breathing and had a hard time sleeping because I was listening to him on the monitor. He was fine this morning.
So, two questions...What would be your guess on what was wrong with him and what was up with the weird catching his breath for so long?
Re: Is this "normal"? (got kind of long)
Is he getting any teeth? Or perhaps he's getting sick? Those are the two situations when Alex can become a total emotional mess.
It might be a combination of things, too. Perhaps he wasn't feeling well because of the carrots or something else and that made being around so many people seem really overwhelming.
I'm just guessing here since I opened your post and wanted to say something. That certainly sounds like it wasn't much fun. I hope he's happier today!

My 2 month olds does that when there are lots of people and noise and it takes her FOREVER to get back to breathing without gasping. I think they get overwhelmed. And when it is their fussy time already I think that escalated it and intensifies things.?
My uncle has been in town from Alaska the past week so we have had a lot of time with multiple family at once and it is pretty loud! I am sure they all think my baby is a miserable crying thing all the time! She is not!

Kristal?
That's what I said last night. He is usually just the most pleasant little guy. NOT last night. LOL.
