Extremely gross thing at the OB's

Before my last appointment, I was told to get my first urine sample of the day and bring it in, so I did.

The RN proceeded to check it for protein (it was fine) and then dumped it, put it back in the baggie I brought it in and gave it back to me. I asked her why she gave it back to me, and she said its for the next appointment. (Mind you, it still had yellow residue in it)

I was soo grossed out, I mean, I know its my own pee, but it would be a month before I would be using it again. I left it out in my laundry area not really knowing what to do and dreading having to re-use it.

I finally threw it out and next week when they ask me where is my first morning's sample, I'm going to tell them that DH threw out the cup cleaning a couple weeks ago.?

I had to switch to this OB at 20 weeks and I'm shopping around again after delivery.

hahaha...thats gross!!! I thought my OB was bad, they make us pee in those dinky dixie cups!

That's really gross and unsanitary.  My office has a huge cupboard full of cups and each one has a seal on it.  The nurse makes sure the cup still has the seal before you use it.  Eww.

Did they want you to take in your FMU from the day of your next appt?

If so, call them and ask them if you can get a cup to use for it instead of a baggie.

Protien in your urine can indicate some very serious issues so I would comply to their wishes even though it is gross.

My old office didn't require the FMU, they just collected while I was there.

I'm also going in for my appt next week at 10:30 and I normally get up to pee around 4am (I don't collect half asleep) so when I get there, I'm planning on asking for a cup. They will get what I can give them. I understand it can be a serious thing, but I'm also moving to every 2 weeks and I'm sure doing it this way will be fine.?

This is pretty much what they are doing to me. If they don't give me a fresh cup next week, I'm stealing one when they aren't looking.?

OMG...I can imagine them all lined up in OB's offices like people's nail kits at the nail salons.  LOL.

I understand now.  I would never reuse anything I peed in.  That is just disgusting.

It was a bad day and I my b!tchy pregnancy hormones were taking a vaca. Once that happened I just wanted to leave. It was also only my 2nd appt with them, so I was nervous.

Next week, I'm getting a new cup, no matter what!?

I can't see how using a sample from a used cup would be good for their testing purposes. I 'do my sample' at the Dr's office.
