Anyone sold stuff to a 2nd hand baby shop?

I just called a local 2nd hand shop for baby/kids stuff to ask how much they'd give me for DD's infant carseat. They said they normally sell items for 1/2 of the retail value, and when they buy items (assuming they are in excellent condition), they either give you 40% of what they'd sell it for in cash, or 50% of what they'd sell it for in store credit.  So they'd sell my Chicco Keyfit30 carseat & base for about $90, which means i'd either get $36 cash, or $45 store credit.

Does that sound like how it normally works? I was thinking that if I could just do the $45 store credit, i'd use it towards a second convertible carseat for DD but if not, i'd just try to sell her Keyfit on Craigslist.

  • Yes, that sounds like how they usually work. Actually, sounds like they were willing to give "more" than I've experienced. I used a local shop a couple times and that was it. They tried giving me literally $1 for brand new with tag namebrand shoes and gap clothing, etc. I had to laugh when offered $40 for a brand new arms reach co-sleeper.  I can get more profit using ebay and craigslist.
