I have heard of Chow attacks before...and they are much bigger than a Mini Dachshund. You still should moniter your dog around the baby, just to be safe.
I don't care how friendly you think your dog is. ?You're STUPID if you leave your 2 week old baby alone with your dog. ?I love my dogs and I don't think they'll hurt my baby, but I would never leave them alone with a child that young.?
They could hurt the child just trying to be friendly. ?Dogs don't know any better. ?They just act like dogs.?

Dachshunds were actually rated the most aggressive dog last year in a study by UPenn. My aunt had to get rid of hers when she had her baby because he was becoming aggressive to the baby when she spent too much time with her.
Obviously, all dogs are different, but definitely keep an eye on it and don't leave baby alone on the floor with it.
Any animal can bite. Small dogs might not have the same strength, but they can be more short-tempered, and how hard do you have to bite to hurt a baby?
This applies no matter how sweet and well-behaved your animal is. A baby ISN'T well-behaved and animal-safe. My cat is almost guaranteed to bite the baby at some point because my baby is almost guaranteed to piss him off.
Pets need to be supervised and precautions need to be taken, whether it's a chow, a miniature chihuahua, cat, hamster, ferret, tarantula, whatever.
wow that just made my stomach turn...i can't even imagine...we have a Newfie so he will pretty much be able to reach anything we put Ava in..he is very friendly and but I would never leave her alone with any animal regardless...scary though

Never EVER leave a child unattended with an animal. Even the most docile animal can do some damage. It's not a matter of what breed is nastier than the other... the simple fact is that larger dog is capable of doing more damage with a bite than a little one.
This doesn't impact me in the least, as I will be dilligent about keeping tabs on my children/animals.
i have two min doxies as well. I am not scared at all. the only thing i'm worried about with my two is they are use to getting all the attention in the world and when the baby comes its going to change big time and they arn't going to like it.?
This happened right up the street from my house. My neighbor and I just went for a walk and saw all of the news vans parked out front. This is so devastating! You can't leave your baby alone with an animal for even a split second. You just never know what can happen, and fast! Keep this family in your prayers.
