My turn: What pisses me off about Chris Brown and RiRi

Things of this nature, and worse, happen EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. to women all over the place..

Naturally, when something of this nature happens in Hollywood, suddenly America is in a panic over battered women.

It sickens me to read that she's back with him, but that's nothing new. It happens every day.

Leave it to Hollywood for it to get this kind of attention. I hope Chris Brown rots in jail and gets butt raped, with every single other person to have ever laid a hand on a woman or child.

You would never see such a media frenzy over your everyday American citizen.

  • Yeah, we're boring.

  • agreed... her going back to him doesn't exactly set a good example for young women who may find themselves in similar situations.

  • Well, the way I see it, at least it gives domestic violence some media coverage for once.  A number of celebrities have been wifebeaters in the past, but somehow it was never such a big deal.  Maybe since this time the victim is also a celebrity, it's bigger news.

I find the media frenzy over missing white girls way more disturbing.

  • Yes Totally agree with you.

Take for instance the guy who murdered his gf and was in court yesterday.....what did that waste of a person do?  attacked the female judge and put her in the hospital.  How much news did that get?  A 10 second blurb on our news.  Absolutely deplorable!

  • It is awfully sad that our society waits until a celebrity goes through a situation before making it a daily cause.  Domestic abuse and Rihanna's situation goes on every day and nothing is truly remarked about it.  However, now that it has happened, the attention is being brought to this very sensitive subject on the radios and tv.  MTV had a special about the topic a couple weeks ago where normal young people talked about their feelings and ways of getting help and helping one another.  There should be a month or day for bringing this subject to light (kinda like the cancer walk or breast cancer).  The subject does have a colored ribbon like breast cancer.  The color is purple.
  • I agree, but this is also why it bothers me so much. She should set an example for the millions of abused woman out there. She is in the public spotlight and should use that power to educate woman on abuse and how you get out of it.
