3rd Trimester

Baby Maker and a Money Maker

So my coworker comes up to me and says "Don't tell anyone your due date from now on"  Curious as to why I am under these instructions, I asked her why.  She proceeds to tell me that she and my boss (who is in charge of Relay for life at our company) have decided that for a Relay for Life Fundraiser they are starting an bank branch-wide poll as to when I'll have the baby.  Part of the money going to the winner and part of the money going to the Relay for life teams.  Everyone is given the month I am due and whoever picks the right date or closest to is the winner.  They never really asked if I was okay with this, I think that I am, but it's weird to think of some of the men that I work with betting on my childbirth.  How would you feel if you were told that you were doing this?  Is anyone else taking bets on your due date?

Re: Baby Maker and a Money Maker

  • i think that's VERY strange they did it without asking your permission first!

  • Honestly it wouldn't bother me at all, but that's just me.  If it does bother you, then say something.  I wouldn't get too upset about it though.  At least some of the money is going to a good cause.

  • Yes- strange they didn't check this with your first. But, the money is going to a good cause! Offices always (around here anyway) do pools on when the pg chick will pop! Might as well let some of it be donated! :)
  • I think it's strange they didn't mention it to you but it's for a good cause. It wouldn't bother me at all.
  • Yep I am all for Cancer research and pretty much totally cool with it, I am just surpised they didnt' at least say "Hey is it okay if...?"
  • I've heard of alot of people doing squares on the day and time the baby will arrive based on the due date, but not actually on guessing what the due date is.  Oh, and they should DEFINITELY have asked you first -- that's awfully personal to just assume it's okay to bet on something like that.
