Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Anything you wished you did before marriage or baby?

I had the opportunity to do a lot of things before getting married or baby, like driving solo to Alaska and doing the Breast Cancer 3 Day and I got all of my education out of the way, bought my own house, worked in my field, etc. Two things I wish I would've done while I was still single was drive Route 66 from start to finish and hike the entire Appalachian Trail.

I guess maybe dh and I could do the Route 66 drive once the kids are older, but I'm thinking I missed the boat on the hike.

What about you?  Anything you wished you had done first?

Re: Anything you wished you did before marriage or baby?

  • Nope, did all I wanted and can do the rest married and with kids, including the 3 day walk.

  • I wish I had traveled more.  That's about it though.
  • I didn't get married until I was 32 - I can't think of anything I wish I had done before DH because I was single a LONG time.

Before having Delilah, it would have been nice if DH and I could have travelled more together.  But wanting kids, my clock was ticking, and it was "go" time.

  • I'm 31 and DH is 34, so like you we got most of our "must do" things out of the way ahead of time.  We chose Ireland for our honeymoon b/c we knew that wouldn't be a trip we'd take with kids for many years to come.
  • No. I traveled quite a bit before I got married and had Jude, but I can't wait to revisit all those places with DH and DS. I don't think there's anything I want to do that I can't do with the both of them.
  • Another vote for traveling.  I wish DH and I had gone on a honeymoon.  We put it off thinking we would go the following year after we bought our house, then we got pg.  In the grand scheme of things, it's really no biggie and we will have time to travel later.

  • DH and I went out west last year to a couple of national parks. It was insanely beautiful, and we want to visit more. I'll probably force my kids to go and be that parent with the whiny kid in the national park because they'd rather be at the beach. So, that may have been easier before kids.

DH and I want to drive down the Pacific Coast Highway. I wish we would have done that before having kids, but it might be a nice little getaway one day.

I wish we would have redone the kitchen and bath before having kids. It's one thing for the two of us to be inconvenienced during construction, but it's going to be an entirely different thing with a baby or kids.

  • Saved more money! ?DH is a grad student and we live off my teachers income, money would make things a *bit* easier. ?
  • I wish we had gone on a 'real' honeymoon. We went to Charleston for a week because we bought our house the next month and wanted to save money for a down payment/closing instead. We did end up going to Vegas later that year, but I wish we had gone on a nice tropical vacation before the girls.
  • Nope. I got a lot of my traveling out during high school. Now I am married to my best friend, I am still in school, and I have a wonderful kid.

    ?

    Wouldn't have done anything differently.?
