DH really wants to paint a simple tree on the wall of the nursery. I think that it will look great, but I'm nervous! Anyone have any tips? We've looked at tons of pictures and have a good idea of what we want it to look like. Do we just start by making the outline on the wall, then go from there? TIA!

Here is another cute idea too. I love how she changes the tree with the seasons. What a cute idea?!?!

And just by googleing "wall tree decal" I got a ton of results as low as $20!
If you are set on painting it yourself (as I will be when our time comes) the best thing you can do is get your hands on a projector. If you know someone who works in a school, or you can find a place to rent one (some office supply places will do this), it would be really easy. Then you project the tree image you want on the wall and draw over the lines of the image (onto the wall) with a pencil. Turn off the projector, turn on the lights, and all you have to do is paint in the lines.
Hope that helps... although it might not be super easy to get your hands on a projector...
I painted one on our nursery wall. I sketched the tree on some bulletin board paper (I am a teacher so I had easy access...but you could use brown package wrap too). Then I cut it out and hung it on the wall and loosely (and lightly) traced around it. Then I painted. It wasn't very hard as long as you aren't trying to do something extremely precise.
I have a tool tip for you....
I used one of those inexpensive sponge brushes you get in the craft section to paint our tree (once I had the outline up) and it came out great! It was super easy, only needed one coat and left a whimsical bark like texture!
We are going for a look very similar to yours. I never thought of cutting out the design on paper, hanging it and tracing it-I think this is how we will do it! Thanks for the tips and inspiration
