Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Looks like the Snugride will get us to 10mos

At Alaina's 9month appointment yesterday (she is 9.5 today) she was 21.7lbs and 28.25 inches. Talk about cutting it close on the Snugride :) I'm going to assume she won't gain 9 ozs and .75 of an inch in 2wks and make the switch finally March 22nd. I'm so happy we made it through the (hopefully) worst part of the winter!!!!

  • I can't wait to be done with that thing!   It's killing my arms!   I can't wait for her to sit on her own (hopefully any day now =/) so I can put her in the conv. seat!

  • wow,  you're lucky she would tolerate it that long!  my DS was totally over the carrier at  4 months -- he just wanted to sit up and look at everything.  whenever the sitters would have to drive with him anywhere and put him in the carrier he would throw a fit.
  • I just wanted to say that our babies' weight history is almost the exact same!! Also, I've seen you talk about your DD not wanting much formula in the past and that is my DD completely. She was drinking only 21-22 ounces for the longest time but for some reason this week she has been starving and having 25-26 ounces and tons more solid food!
  • 80% of the time I use it like it's a convertible, tbh. But I like having the option to use it on super windy and/or cold days. I also prefer using it when we take walks w/ the stroller.........again for wind protection and also because I love seeing and talking to her :)

I do think we're fortunate that she still tolerates it lol. But I think I have a car seat hater in general. We've had our Boulevard for a good 4mos now in DHs car and when we've used it those handful of times, she still gets pisssy. So I figure if she's going to act the same way, mine as well have the advantages of the Snugride while I can.

Ah! So you too have a "fluffy" baby who's leveled off in a way that sort of made you worry she wasn't eating enough?? lol

Yeah, that formula fiasco finally ended for some reason when we redistributed the same # of ozs into less bottles (and spaced them out more evenly as well). But now that she came through that fine and now that she's a month older and it's more okay that she only takes 20 or so a day, I don't even worry anymore. Lately, she's only taken 6 of her 8oz bottles (so, 18 a day) and also decreased her solids to a measly 2oz per meal (so, 6oz a day) and I'm not even going to start to worry this time.

  • hurray! we just switched ours last week.  i was surprised it lasted as long as it did, but i am glad.  i am actually not sure of her measurements, i actualyl think we probably couldve kept her in it,  but her feet were starting to hang off, and she was looking a little cramped.  she is a car seat hater also, but overall has been happier in the convertible.  she still throws a fit when you put her in, but she spends most of the rides now just chatting happily.  thankfully!
  • Yes!! It always amazed me how little she ate and how much weight she gained! Slow metabolism I guess! It did worry me..but our problem is and was that she was sooo distracted and always wanting to get down and play. Now that shes finally mastered the Level 3 nipple, it is soooo much better. She can eat really fast and be on her way! LOL!

I too found that finally switching to the fast flow nipple helped alot. She now will eat a good 4ozs (super fast) before she starts getting antsy. Then I break out a little Old Macdonald or Bingo to get her as far as I can :) Usually that's only good for 2ozs but I'll take it!!!

I need to find a 3oz song, lol.
