Update on Ryan and the doc appt...

I posted on botb as well, but it turns out he tore his little butt by pushing so hard and it hurts him when he poops or has gas. Doc said it's common and normal and just to keep ointment on it. I feel so bad for him. I'm glad I had him checked out but it sucks there's not much I can do for him.

Poor little guy. How long will it take for it to heal? What besides ointment can you do for the pain?

Not much for pain, just tylenol if absolutely necessary and then warm baths and keeping it clean and ointment-ed. Sucks.

Same thing happened with my son! I feel so bad, but I just kept putting that ointment on it. It didn't heal though, so we are starting him on peaches and pears to help thin his poop out per Rx of the dr. His butt has been that way since early Jan. Hopefully it will heal now! Hope your son's butt heals quickly!!!

When did that start with your son? Ryan's so young solids aren't an option or anything. I sure hope it heals quickly!

It started around Christmas time for him. He had gotten constipated pretty bad, he was not a happy stocking stuff thats for sure! The day after Christmas, he finally got out his big ol' poop. I think thats when it happened. He would have been almost 2 months old. We just had his 4 month appt yesterday, which is when we were told to give him peaches or pears. Any P fruit, but not prunes that would do too much. What ointment did your dr Rx? We were given hydrocortisone cream with a petroleum jelly base 2x a day. I hope yours actually works. DS's would heal but then he would get constipated again. Vicious evil cycle. The cream didn't help us, hope it works for yours!

That stinks that you can't make it all better, but I'm glad to hear it's not more serious.

My DS got a hemmoroid from pushing too hard. We did a hydrocortisone ointment and if they didn't have the ointment we did a cream and vaseline on top, that way the poop would slide on by. It took about 3 months for it to go away. It's not quite the same but hang in there and just do the ointment every diaper change. GL.
