To make a long story short we decided to ignore the on-call pedi's advice (ounce of pedialyte every half hour) and follow our gut and take Josh in when he couldn't even hold down a half an ounce and thank god we did because he was not only severly dehydrated, but his blood sugar also dropped down to 32 and he was unresponsive.  Thankfully he is doing much better and was released from the hospital yesterday.  DH and I have decided that from now on we're following our gut when we think there is a chance he could be dehydrated.  It was so sad to see them trying to place the IV three times and him not even move because he was so out of it.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that, it must have been awful. Good for you for following your gut!! Parents know their kids better than the pedi!

How scary!  We were in the same positon as you on Sunday night so I know exactly how you feel.  I am glad he's been released back home.

Oh dear...I am so sorry it turned out to be that bad. ?How scary. ?I am glad he is doing better now. ?I think I would be having a serious discussion with your pedi about the advice you were given.
