Babies: 0 - 3 Months

2 Questions in 1 Post!

1) When do you get over the fear of going out with DC alone?

(I was FULLY planning on taking the plunge and going to the drive-through bank and never made it today - I feel bad to wake him to put him in his car seat! Next week we have a pedi appt....I bet'cha $1,000 that will be the first time I do it!) Sad

2) About what age does the LO stop sleeping so much and start taking "naps"? Not that I'm rushing "nap-time" or anything - - wondering how much more of the "cushy" life during the day I have left! LOL

Re: 2 Questions in 1 Post!

  • 1.  I took her out when she was 2 weeks old.  We went to my work to see some people and DH (we work for the same company).

    2.  Mine started napping regularly around 1 month.

  • 1) I think you should just make yourself do it. A trip to a drive thru is probably a good start if you're nervous. I will usually put DD in the seat right as she's falling asleep, and then she'll take a little nap in there. The car ride puts most kids to sleep I think. I still don't take DD out that often alone, but I try to at least a couple times a week. If you LO is sleeping all the time still, then take that opportunity to go out! Now that DD sleeps less, she freaks out if she wakes up in the car seat. It sucks.

     2)  DD sleeps less and is much more alert for the past several weeks. But she doesn't take long naps, she only will sleep for like 30 minutes at a time and is then wide awake. So I don't know how to change those into a couple of long naps. But your DS will probalby stop sleeping so much in the next couple of weeks I would guess.

  • 1. I still don't love going out alone with her -- sometimes it's just so much stuff to manage! First time was around 8 weeks, maybe? But my DH was home for 6.

    2. Naps for us started around 3 months. (Meaning rather than just off and on sleep all day, right?)
