Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Visiting with a 1mth old- WWYD

I'm due March 20th, and a friend is coming into town May 1st.  Because she wants to see a bunch of us, she wants to get everyone together at one person's house and we'd all just bring the kids.  My baby and another friend's baby will be just over a month old (we're due 4 days apart), another friend has a 3 year old, another has one that's almost two, and then there will be one that's just about one and a half.

Do you think we'll be up to a trip to someone else's house with the baby at that point in time, and will it be ok for the baby to be around all those other kids?  (Should I be worried about the baby getting sick?)  Should I just tell her I'm not sure and we'll have to play it by ear but it might be easier if she just come to visit those with the babies individually?

  • I wouldn't do it but my family is very paranoid about RSV, my DH had a daughter in the hospital for 3 months becasue of it, and lets face it little kids are germy.

  • I'd tell her you'll play it by ear for now.  By 1 month you will probably want to get out a little and this may be a great opportunity.

I'm a little different on germs (I don't mind the exposure in the least).  DS was around my nieces and nephew from a very young age so that part wouldn't bother me.

  • I'd also say play it by ear - then however you feel on that given day you can go with it. Who knows - you may need to get out or you might decide that you & LO should just stay home.
  • I wouldn't want to do it. Not when the baby is that little with all those other kids and possible germs, not to mention just the time/hassle.

  • I'm traveling 5 hours tomorrow to see family (children included).  I think you would be fine as long as you keep the little kids away from the baby.  But I would play it by ear and see what happens come May.
  • I would plan on going, but make a phone call or two ahead of time to make sure no one is sick.

  • I think you'll want to get out and show off your baby. Say you'll plan on it, but check to make sure no one is sick first.
