Babies: 9 - 12 Months

When did you let your LO sleep w/ a blanket-type lovey?

Like the ones with the animal heads and a little blanket attached?

  • I would feel comfortable with that after 6 months. She has been sleeping with a big blanket for a few months now.

  • So far I have only given DD hers when we're going somewhere further than just in town in the car.

I figured I'd start letting her sleep with it here pretty soon, maybe when she turns 1.

  • around 8 months when she started teething....she likes to chew on the silky part. she's had a knitted blanket since 5 months
  • I have let DS sleep with his lovey during naps starting around 5.5 mo.  I have a video monitor, so I watch him.  I've seen him put it on his head and pull it off.  Just to be safe, I don't give it to him overnight.

  • At 6 months when we stopped swaddling.  She like to chew on it before she goes to sleep.  I've seen her throw it over her head and sleep with it there too.

  • We gave DS his at 6mo.  Here's advice from a nurse we spoke with: Let you LO play with it while awake.  Cover them up with it and see how they react.  When you are sure they can pull it off their face consistently, they are old enough to sleep with it.
