Babies: 0 - 3 Months

how long is too long to be wearing no-scratch mittens?

we've tried to clip DD's fingernails but aren't very good at cutting them short enough (primarily because we're afraid of making her bleed).  as a result, she's scratched herself numerous times, so we're still putting those mittens on her.  is 3 or 4 months too late to still be wearing them?  (she's almost 3 months now.)

  • I dont know hohw long is too long, but we stopped at about 3-4 weeks. ?We dont cut, just file, so no worrying about hurting our LO.

  • No considering she still is probably putting her hands in her face/mouth...

  • I've had to put socks/mittens on her hands the past 2 weeks not b/c of her nails but b/c of her saliva. She won't take a paci anymore and has resorted to sucking on her hand. She hasn't figured out the thumb/finger thing yet so she ends up with a rash all over her neck/cheeks from her rubbing her saliva covered hand on herself.

  • Honestly, my DS still scratches himself no matter how short or filed his nails are. I want him to get used to sucking on his fingers and using his hands, so we ditched the gloves a long time ago.
