Growth spurt and pumping?

I was pumping an hour after the morning feeding.  However, he's going through his 6wk growth spurt, so when do I pump?  He's eating every 1.5 hours instead of 3 now.  Should I just give up that pump session until the spurt is over.  I can tell my supply has gone up since it's started now that he's eating more often.

Re: Growth spurt and pumping?

  • Are you back at work or just building a stash?

If it is just for the stash, you could stop pumping until the spurt is over. They don't last long, maybe a week or two at the most. Alternately you could pump one side and feed from one side at the morning feeding.

Just building a stash for when I do go back to work in a few weeks.  Spurts last a week or two?!?  I dunno how I'm gonna do it!!  He's barely sleeping, eating so much more, and super fussy! I was hoping a few days, it's day 3 now.  =(  Hoping!!!!

  • I would say two would be the very most. You're probably almost done. Sorry :) I'm sure I thought it would never end at the time, but I'd give anything to have that time again. Have you tried nursing side-laying? Forget all the house stuff, just snuggle up with your baby and nurse nurse nurse.
