Argh! I'm worried b/c DS has his first fever (102.1 at 6am ct) and I'm sitting here waiting for the Dr office to open so I talk to him/make an appt.
I called my mom to see if I should give Tylenol (wasn't sure if it was a good idea to take DS to the pedi w/out his symptoms - mom said to give it) and she asked if DH was staying home to take me. I told her yes, since they gave him a call that was already done and he'd have to sit there for an hour or more while they found him another one anyway -- and it's the slow season. She immediately started in with "He might lose his job..."
That's very frustrating. I'm very worried about DS anyway, I don't need the added stress, but I think DH and I know much more about his status at work than she does. Not to mention that if he went in today he would probably end up sitting at home on Fri again anyway. Argh!
Re: worried and annoyed
Is he acting normal other than the fever? There probably isn't much reason to bring him to the pedi if he's not showing other symptoms. You already gave the Tylenol and that should be all they suggest other than watching his liquid intake to stay hydrated.
As far as your mom's comment goes, who honestly cares what she thinks? You are adults and it really doesn't matter how she feels about your DH staying home.
Thanks, DS isn't really acting 'normal.'
He hasn't been taking bottles well (and he'll take his solids, but it's harder to get him to). Plus, he usually sleeps thru the night but hasn't been the last few days. He has what I'd describe as a dry, short cough. I thought it was dry air or something, but now I don't know.
He does have a humidifier in his room.
I would give him tylenol now. If he seems fine, I highly doubt your pedi will see him for the fever. Once they get over a certain age the fevers aren't such a big deal. It may just be a virus or a cold. Like I said, give him the tylenol and see how he does. GL!
