I saw the recipe for the lactation cookies on here the other day and I went to go buy the ingredients for them tonight, but I couldn't find the brewers yeast...has anyone had any luck finding that? If so where did you find it???
I found it a health food store. ?They should also probably have it at a vitamin store. ?It's a supplement. ?Sometimes it's also called nutritional yeast-- same thing, different name.
Re: lactation cookies
I had the same question a couple days ago, I was only finding it in tablet form.
DH picked up the powder form from Whole Foods yesterday.
Here's a recipe where you don't use yeast-
Oatmeal cookies to increase breastmilk supply1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 2/3 cups flour (i do 1 cup white, 2/3 whole wheat)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon (heaping)
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3 cups rolled oats
2 tbs. flax seed (i heaped these)
1/2-1 cup raisins (soak them in water before you start making the cookies - that prevents the raisins from making cookies dry)
combine wet ingredients together, blend well. combine dry ingredients, stir. combine wet and dry ingredients, blend well. add oatmeal, blend slowly. finally, hand stir in the raisins.
spoon onto cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes, depending on how well done you like your cookies.
