I went for a monthly check up today and I have gained 22 pounds so far. I wasn't feeling bad about it, but the more I think about it I am feeling self concious. Especially when I hear people say, WOW you are so big!!!! The doctor was not overly concerned, just said to start walking daily.
Re: feeling self conscious...hopefully not flame worthy
Aww its ok. I think being self conscious about a changing body is totally normal.
Most important thing though is that baby and mommy are healthy.

Aww, I' m worried that I'll feel that way too when i start gaining the weight. It seems like sometime people just gain a lot of weight even though they're dong everything right, so its not always bad.
The question is, are you doing everything you can to feel good about yourself and be healthy? Do you know that you eat right? Do you work out enough to feel fit and strong? Do you know that this is the right amount of weight gain for you and your baby?
If you know you're doing what you should be, you should feel great! If you realize you should be walking more, or watching the cookies (haha, my flaw;) then make a little change and hopefully you'll feel better. As long as you're secure in your choices, I think you should feel awesome.
Just try and remember its all for a good cause! And maybe you gained more now, and will gain less in the second half of your pregnancy...
Don't get down on yourself!
It's okay! So many of us women hold onto body images for so long that I think it's hard to shed that even when we're pregnant and gaining weight for a very important reason. As long as you are eating healthy for the most part then I'm sure it's fine.
I actually have the opposite problem. I started my pregnancy a little bit overweight, maybe 15 pounds or so, but happy with myself pretty much but I am worried I'm not gaining enough weight. I know that's normal too but so far I've only gained about 6 pounds..... For the first time in my LIFE I actually wish I was gaining more weight! But I eat when I'm hungry and even indulge if I want to but eat healthy majority of the time so I guess my body will gain when it needs to gain

Your post is much better than a few up "gaining" OMG.
Walking regularly couldnt hurt. Give it a try.
Definitely no flames. We spend so much time focusing on our weight pre-pregnancy that it's impossible to completely let go of those feelings, even when we're gaining for a good reason. You?re healthy, the baby is healthy, and you look great so try to stay positive.
I have struggled with weight all my life- about 12 years ago I was at my largest, decided to change, and lost the weight. Since then I have had to work hard to maintain the loss. Now pg, I oscillate between being happy that I finally have an excuse not to worry about the creeping scale (24 lbs so far), and freaked out that I'm gaining weight.
So far the happiness wins, because I remind myself that I am growing a beautiful life, and weight gain is natural and healthy. Try to stay positive and remember that no one thinks you're fat; saying "you're big" is a compliment- tantamount to saying "Look how healthy you are! Look at the miracle you are creating! We are happy for you!"
