Sippy Cup rave!

We've been trying to get T used to the sippy cup, but she hasn't had much interest. ?I bought some Nuby ones (with a soft spout) and she loves it! ?I mixed 1/2 juice and 1/2 water and she was pounding it, lol. ?I think the soft spout really helped her. ?

Now we just have to work on tipping the cup up so Mommy doesn't have to hold it for her :D?

Re: Sippy Cup rave!

  • I always found the Nuby sippy cups to be the best when trying to get them to transition to a sippy.

  • Nuby also makes a sippy cup with a straw. I started giving my DS one to "play" with for the past few weeks. He has actually gotten good at the straw. He doesn't have to tip the cup. It also has handles so it is easy for him to hold. My DS is 6 months old today so it probably won't take your DD long to get the hang of it.
  • We have a couple of different tyes of Nuby sippies ... he's really good at getting the water out ... not so great at holding it (we have the kind with and without handles). We've been working on it since 6 months, ugh. One of these days he'll get it :)

We were told that using a straw helps with language development, something about the way the tongue has to work using a sippy vs a straw??

  • We love those, too!  And also the Munchkin soft spout with handles - which is practically the same thing.  Except I like the Nuby better b/c it has lids to keep the nipple clean when on the go.

  • Yeah for Nuby's!!!  DD did not know how to tip it back until I gave it to her in her exersaucer where she could literally tip herself back to without a headreast like in her high chair.  It helped to fill it all the way up with water at first (all my attempts at filling it only a bit were a flop.)  She is doing much better.  So need to buy her a straw cup...that would be fun.

  • We love those too, Sophia also likes the soft spout Munchkin sippy cups.

  • I'm going to have to try the straw cup! My DD won't take a bottle.... AT ALL! It's horrible! I know if that's all we offered her, she would eventually have to take it- but since she's already 6 months, I'm just going straight to the sippie cup. The Nuby one has worked the best- it has the soft nipple, so she just chews on it. But she gets a little juice out of it. I also put ice cubes in it if we're going out- makes for a good rattle and keeps her entertained :) I'm making a trip to BRU today.... I'll be buying some more cups! woohoo! ;)

    Great info, thanks!!
