2nd Trimester

No Questions?!

So my ob spends all of ten minutes with me listening to the baby's heart beat, and she always asks me if I have any questions. I usually say no. My BIL and SIL are both Dr's and I have a couple good books on pregnancy. If I ever have questions I go to my BIL/SIL or read up on it. I think I offend my ob by not asking her questions. oh well...but

does your ob do anything else with you when you see them? She only ever listens to the hb and sends me on my way.

Re: No Questions?!

  • Nope, thats it. I always write my questions down so that if I am feeling rushed I can still remember my questions.

  • Besides listening to the HB and the other routine stuff and questions, my doctor usually just lets me know of any upcoming prenatal tests. Lately we have talked about childbirth classes and circumcision but that's about it.
  • nope- just heartbeat and measuring. if DH is there he usually brings something stupid up and we have a mini conversation about it. but if it's just me. I don't really have any cuz I still remember it all from #1.
  • Mine measures my uterus, checks the h/b, asks if I have questions, and then she looks at my cervix, but the last thing is only because I'm high risk for preterm labor.

  • We go over how I'm feeling, she looks for the hb, asks if I have any questions, and we're done.  I don't have the resources you do, but I usually get info from pregnancy books or a friend who recently had a baby.  None of my tests have even had anything to follow up on... I'm thankful for the short appointments.
  • heart beat, measure on the outside, ask how i'm feeling- thats all!
  • Nope, that's about it. I recognize the value, but the short (seemingly useless) appointments drive me nuts. I'm so happy that my doc waits until 32 weeks to start the bi-weekly appointments.

  • I rarely have questions either & my dr. always seems surprised (maybe b/c it's my 1st pregnancy?)... but at my last appt. he asked why I don't have any questions, & I said because everything I've been concerned about I've found the answers to in my pregnancy books I've been reading. Well I guess he got offended & said something along the lines of, 'you trust me to be your dr. & deliver your baby, so why don't you leave me to give you answers instead of trusting a book?'... Now I almost feel obligated to write down like 20+ questions (& make most of them STUPID as hell) to ask at my next appt. this Fri.... I know that'd get him to lay off being worried that I don't have questions.
