Obviously, alcohol. I'm just curious about all the other things I gave up for pregnancy - are they taboo when breastfeeding, too? Like blue cheese, lunch meat, etc?
Other than alcohol and caffeine in moderation, I haven't had to give up anything. Some people need to modify their diet b/c their child has a reaction (dairy, beans, tomatoes, garlic). Check out kellymom.com for more info.
alcohol is at your discretion. many people go by the reasoning- if you can drive you can BF. meaning if you have a drink and feel ok- bf'ing is ok as well.
i never had to alter my diet. all depends on baby. some are more sensitive than others.
I didn't have to change mine at all. I tried to go easy on caffeine at first, but now it doesn't seem to bother him at all (thank goodness, because I am tired!). I can eat anything, and if I want to have a drink, I do it either right after he ate or after he goes to be and avoid nursing for a couple of hours afterward.
