Buy, Buy, Baby vs. Babies R Us

The closest BBB is an hour from me but my sister registered there and she had a good experience.

The closest BRU is a little over a half hour from here and there are more of them.

I wanted to ask those who have been to both which one is a more enjoyable experience and which you would recommend.

(I have a feeling I'll end up at both but I was curious.)

Re: Buy, Buy, Baby vs. Babies R Us

  • DH and I went to Buy Buy this weekend and it was awesome!  They were so helpful and the store was really clean.  They also seemed to have so many more products than BRU.  If you can take some time to make the hour drive to check it out, I would recommend it!

  • I'm registered at BRU b/c I think there are more of them, but I think BBB is a much nicer store.  Slightly higher end stuff at BBB than BRU but most of it is the same, it is just cleaner, more organized, etc.  I kind of feel like it is comparing target to Wal-mart.

  • I registered at both- they actually have different selections. I  was going to just do BRU because there is no BBB in PA and i would say 2/3 of my shower guests are from PA.  But BBB had the ergo holder, and my carseat avaliable at the store not just online, among other things-  so i put both on there.

i have no reviews of cust service or anything yet  (although my BRU person who input me was dumb- i registered last week adn she put due date 3/13 and city/state philadelphia, NJ)

Exactly what I was going to say, although BRU is starting to catch on. For example, they now carry Stokke products they never used to have.

Pros: Owned by Bed Bath and Beyond, You can used 20% BBB coupons there on certain items except for: furniture, a few high end strollers, diapers and formula.  They also have amazing customer service.  They are set up just like BBB so there is someone in every department that wants to help.  They also have high end name items like: Peg Perego and Bugaboo along with all the regular items.

Cons: They only have a select few in certain places.  For example, where I live- they only have 1 and I just happen to live 20 mintues from it.

    Babies R US

Pros: They have one everyone, they also have a lot of popular items.

Cons: Where I am from, their customer service is horrible and they often don't have a lot of in store items compared to online.

    **I registered at both.

  • It depends what your price point is for baby stuff (mainly the big items like strollers etc). DH and I ended up registering at BRU b/c things like strollers, carseats etc were a bit cheaper than at BBB. BBB also didn't carry some of the brands that we were looking at. But, we are probably going to buy our furniture from BBB. When we went to look, they had much better quality furniture and much more set-up to look at than BRU in our area. The staff was also VERY helpful but not too pushy where as at BRU we got no help in the furniture dept at all.
