Re: Snow in NC

  • We're supposed to get 9-12 inches here in PA too!  Yeah for a snow day!  I'm a teacher too, but my district doesn't call off until 5am.

    Enjoy your day off!

That's awesome.  The weather crews in my area predicted a major storm was going to hit a few years ago and ALL schools called off the night before.  Well, we got practically nothing and since then, they don't take any chances! :)

lol Since they don't have the equipment down here to take care of the roads, school is cancled. We already have 2in and calling for more. It is the heavy wet stuff. ??

  • We are originally from Raleigh NC and I am so sad that they are getting snow and here in Charleston we still have none.   Crying

    Enjoy your snow

    Kerri

  • I'm in Greenville and this is what our yard looked like around 8:00PM, and it was still snowing when I went to bed! And don't you know that it is supposed to hit the 70s by the middle of this week. Bonk!

  • Crazy snow, my dogs have no idea what to do this morning.
  • isnt the snow pretty.  We got 5 inches here where we live in NC
  • I'm in Raleigh, and we maybe only have 2 inches.  Schools are closed, but my daycare was open, so it's business-as-usual for us today.

  • Hi KMB! I'm in CLT area too & have off today...too bad I'll be sitting here doing work, but at least in the comfort of my house, right? This is definitely the most snow I've seen since we moved here!

I checked out your blog- I am a REACH success story also, through IVF/FET, I'm pg with twins. :)

  • I am in Winston-Salem and it is beautiful!!!  Originally from Wisconsin so this is no biggie for us.  But I am about to take DS out to play in the snow for the first time, it should be fun :)

  • I love the fact that schools get closed down south for a few inches... Up in the north we need a good foot or so for them to close.

It is funny (and we make fun of it all the time b/c we moved here from the north), but the one thing ppl often forget is that because they so rarely get snow in these areas, they have very few plows (the city of Charlotte has something like 30 plows I believe and the state has some that help out but also has to do surrounding areas & highways too) & therefore it can take a lot longer time to clear even the major roads, let alone the smaller ones so I can understand why they don't want school buses out there.
