MMR last Monday and fever tonight?

DS had his MMR last Monday. I thought nothing of it and now he has a 102.5 fever. Could it be a reaction to the vaccine? A week later? Anyone else experience this? I will certainly call pedi in the morning, but thought I'd ask here for some peace of mind on a Sunday night. It's breaking my heart to see him so uncomfortable.

Re: MMR last Monday and fever tonight?

  • My doctor told me to expect a fever 7-10 days after the MMR shot.  He said it was perfectly normal and that most babies have that side effect.  Of course, call your pedi tomorrow to be sure, but that is what I think it is from.

  • DD had hers a week ago Friday so today is day 10. I called because C is 102.0, they said the reaction is 6-12 days out and the fever is usually 101-103. I have to call if it is 105+ or if she gets a purple patchy rash on her tummy. Push fluids and Tylenol or Advil to keep her feeling better.

    She is a sweaty mess.

  • yep, our baby had his MMR last Friday pedi said a fever could spike 7 - 10 days afterwards.  It sounds like its possible thats what it is.
  • Ditto what everyone else said, a week  to 10 days later is when to expect the aftermath.

Did anyone else's kid get a huge welt on the thigh after the shot (or from any other shot administered at the same time)? K got a huge red mass that we had to keep hot compresses on for a few days. I don't know exactly what shot it was, as she got 3. It was down, but still tender a few days later.
