I started around 22 weeks. It was the worst decision IMO.
I don't/didn't have then energy and I had WAY too many other things to do, baby related.
If I were you, I'd wait a few weeks and then start. In a few weeks, you will probably feel like you're in a holding period because things start to slow down as far as baby stuff goes.
Also, just because you start it, doesn't mean its finalized. Also you will wind up doing a lot of research (if you're like me) to make sure you have picked the right travel system or high chair, or what not.
The only reason against registering early that I know if is if things get discontinued, in which case you can just pick something else.

I have started to register, but simply because I am lazy and it takes me a really long time to decide on things! I have all of the bedding, room decor, and stroller registered for but that is it. I plan to do a little here and there. My first shower will be next month, but it is because May is a really busy month for our school and the teachers are really busy getting year end things done.
i will register probably at the end of the month and my shower back home is at the end of May, so i will be about 30w...but i have to travel 5 hours back home for my shower, so i wish it were earlier!!!

We are registering next week (I'll be 24 weeks) and our shower will be sometime around 34 weeks which is a little later than average, but my sister (who's hosting) is graduating from college a few weeks before that and wanted to wait until after she's done with all of the graduation hoopla to have the shower
