2nd Trimester

**Aliliv**

What part of Saskatchewan are you from? I'm flying out there the first week of April - Saskatoon - to look at a restaurant expansion (2nd Location) that I've been asked to design.

After hearing that it's -54 there today with the windchill, seriously hoping that by April the weather will be at least umm... in the single digit negatives????

Re: **Aliliv**

  • I live in a really tiny town called, Major - it's 2 hours west of Saskatoon, really close to the (Alberta) border.  It should be warmer by April, but we have been known to get freak snowstorms!    I'm guessing it should be around 0 by then - at least I hope so, I'm so sick of the cold.   We're flying out to Toronto on Thursday to visit family - please tell me it's warmer there!

  • It's -6 today but sunny which is great. I live right downtown in Toronto so we're often a little bit warmer here. The lake has a mild affect.?

I'm only going to be there for two days so I can survive I'm sure. I just am worried that I will be too big by then for my winter coat to do up properly. I'm on the verge here... so long as I don't have many layers on, I'm okay.

My best friend lives in Edmonton and she invested in a full length Cole Haan down filled coat this year, thanks to the extra cold weather. She thought Toronto was bordering on Vancouver weather when she was here the beginning of Feb.?

  • hmmm....I like the sound of Vancouver weather.  We usually get the same kind of weather as Edmonton.   You should be fine - wear layers:)   It's usually a dry cold, so not too bad.
  • Our cold is totally a wet bone chilling cold here. On Friday, I was out on the island (Ward's Island) for a meeting and the wind was howling so bad I seriously can't remember being in that cold a wind before. It sucked my breath right away. Good thing the ferry was heated and out of the wind!
  • eek!  I'd better dress warm, then!  My aunt and uncle live beside lake Huron and we're going to Niagra Falls at one point!
  • Niagara Falls is actually warm. I used to live in St. Catharines which is right beside NF when I went to university. It's the fruit belt and the weather is a bit milder. If you like wines - the vineyards are right there in Niagara on the Lake and they are worth a visit to as well.

Lake Huron, I'm not sure about. It could be chilly there. I don't know if they are in or out of the snow belt.

The buildings etc. of the city also help to insulate us here in the downtown core.?

  • Thanks for the info.!   I hope your trip to Saskatoon is warm!!  But, I really can't predict that yet - it could either way:)  You'll have to check out Saskatoon's Lululemon and see how it measures up!!  What restuarant are designing?
  • Jerry's Food Emporium is looking at moving into more of a roadhouse/upscale dining for their second location. I'm going to be designing the new space and helping with the rebranding.
  • Cool!
