2nd Trimester

I am so grossed out w/myself

So I have been dealing w/the horrible skin on my face since I figured out I was pregnant, now I have blemishes on my back!! The thing is that these blemishes are like the ones on my face, they aren't zits and they hurt!!!! I shower every day, so I tried showering every other day in case it was b/c I was drying out my skin... not working. I've been using tea tree oil wash on my back.. not working.

Is anyone else having this problem?

  • Even pre-preg, I had blemishes on my upper arms... so gross! Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash works wonders!

  • I have bad acne right now too:( Doc said it should clear 2nd half of preg. But who knows. As for every other day showering I dont think that would help. I think it would make it worse, Like if it was drying out it would be a good thing, you know? Not being a wise guy or nothing.. You should go get some good body scrub (The BOdy Shop has Coconut scrub I use) and it is wonderful! Have dh put it on before you shower and scrub it in well.. That might help.. GL

over drying your skin can make acne worse because the skin produces more oil to compensate.

do you wash your back after you're done with your hair?  the conditioner rinsing down you back can't be helping.  other than that, if it's hormonal, there's really nothing you can do but ride it out.  I use benzoyl peroxide for my face and I think it helps keep the acne in check...

  • Yes :( I made a sprayer of filtered water and tea tree oil that I spray on my back (b/c body wash doesn't stay on all the time) and that seems to help.
  • Iam having the same issues on my face, chest & back. I talked to my OB about it & he said not to use OTC acne stuff with either salicylic acide or benzol peroxide during PG. He did give me an RX for a lotion that comes in a bingo dabber type container, it is Dalacin T, which is Clindamycin (an antibiotic) that is safe during PG and it has made a world of difference!

Yea...I've got it on my upper chest and face...the Neutrogena is working pretty well for body and I'm still trying to find things for my face. My Dr. gave me an Rx for a cream...gonna go fill that today, so we'll see!

  • I have it pretty bad on my face. I went to a dermatologist and found out that in addition to the acne I have a staph infection. I have no idea how I got it. It made the skin around the acne red, blotchy, dry and itchy. It's starting to clear up w/antibiotics.

For the acne, I heard Cetaphil is a good, mild cleanser. I also have the Belli acne wash, which I plan to use once the staph clears up. Burt's Bees has an herbal blemish stick w/tea tree oil. Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are category C drugs.
